BMO Hires Ex-CIBC Banker for New Digital-Assets Strategy Role

Bank of Montreal hired Imran Ibrahim for a newly created role focused on leading the firm’s digital-assets strategy as the use of stablecoins and tokenized deposits rapidly gains prominence.

Ibrahim spent more than a decade at Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce and was most recently executive director of payments and digital transformation in the company’s capital-markets division. He started at Bank of Montreal on Tuesday, according to an announcement from Derek Vernon, head of North American treasury and payment solutions.
