Austria MOF Clarifies Deductibility of Group Health Insurance Contributions as Business Expenses

The Austrian Federal Ministry of Finance Aug. 4 posted Federal Finance Court Decision No. RV/7104160/2024, clarifying the deductibility of group health insurance contributions as business expenses. The taxpayer, a retired attorney, claimed business expense deductions for costs related to continuing education and training. The Tax Office partially allowed the deductions on the grounds that health insurance contributions for pensioners were capped at 5.1 percent of the assessment basis.
