Angola Parliament Approves Ban on Crypto Mining, Angop Says

Angolan lawmakers approved a proposal to ban and criminalize the mining of cryptocurrencies in the African nation, state-owned news agency Angop reports.

  • The bill establishes a prison sentence of 1-5 years for anyone who is caught with a computer and other material for mining cryptocurrencies
  • The ban aims to safeguard Angola’s national energy security
