The Alabama Legislature enacted a law proposing an amendment to the Alabama Constitution: 1) authorizing qualified taxpayers 65 years of age or older to claim a senior property tax exemption for real property owned in Mobile County under certain conditions; and 2) raising the income limit for certain homestead exemptions to $50,000. The proposed amendment will become a valid part of the Alabama Constitution when approved by voters. [H.B. 308, became law without signature 03/17/26]
