The Transportation Department unlawfully suspended a $5 billion program for electric vehicle charging infrastructure, a federal district court ruled Friday.
The US Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration violated the Administrative Procedure Act when they temporarily halted funding disbursement for the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Formula Program in February 2025, Judge Tana Lin said. The US District Court for the Western District of Washington partially granted a motion for summary judgment in favor of more than a dozen states that challenged the Trump administration’s funding freeze.
