New Jersey health inspectors must be given access to Delaney Hall, the state argued in a lawsuit filed Tuesday that could empower a probe into how migrants are treated in the Newark private detention facility.

The center, run by GEO Group under contract for US Immigration and Customs enforcement, has come under intense scrutiny in recent weeks. Federal, state, and local officials have imposed curfews, set up barricaded protest zones, and arrested individuals who have assaulted law enforcement.
