Harley-Davidson to Face Claims Over Deadly Tire Blowout

Harley-Davidson Inc. failed to beat back a suit over a tire blowout that killed the rider and injured the passenger after the District of Utah found a factual dispute regarding Harley’s role as the tire’s designer and manufacturer.

Angela Nielson may proceed with claims against Harley for her husband’s death and her injuries stemming from the incident, the U.S. District Court for the District of Utah said Nov. 22, denying Harley’s motion for summary judgment.

The tire model that failed is produced by Goodyear-Dunlop but is co-branded with the Harley-Davidson name.
