The EEOC voted to grant commissioners authority to approve most discrimination litigation brought by the agency, a shift that solidifies more power under its Republican majority to carry out Trump administration priorities.

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission made public on Friday the party-line vote to change its procedures that took place behind closed doors on Thursday.

Giving commissioners power to hold votes on whether to file most suits brought by the EEOC will take authority away from the general counsel and field office lawyers to bring cases.
