Blackstone Taps Keenan as BREIT CEO After LePatner’s Death (1)

Blackstone Inc. named Katie Keenan as chief executive officer of its massive real estate investment trust for individuals, tapping a 13-year firm veteran after BREIT’s leader was killed in a shooting.

Keenan, 41, will steer Blackstone Real Estate Income Trust, a $53 billion crown jewel and key driver of profits at the money manager. She’ll also become global head of the firm’s core-plus real estate business, according to a statement Friday.

The fund’s prior CEO, Wesley LePatner, was killed July 28 when a gunman opened fire in the lobby of the Manhattan skyscraper that Blackstone calls home. The ...
