The University of Tampa has reached an agreement to pay $3.4 million to resolve a lawsuit by students seeking refunds after the school canceled in-person classes and activities in early 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, according to federal court filings in Florida.
The proposed settlement, which was filed Wednesday in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York, “falls squarely within the range” of settlements to resolve claims for Covid-19 tuition and fee refunds, the plaintiffs say.
Other settlements cited in the motion had common funds ranging from $1.23 million to $2.4 million.
