Republican Senators Ask Trump to Ease Tariffs in Virus Response

A group of Republican senators asked President Trump to ease tariffs and other trade requirements to help blunt the fallout of the coronavirus.

  • Actions Trump should take include pausing consideration of so-called Buy American requirements and suspending 301 tariffs on health, safety and medical devices
  • Letter to Trump signed by Senators Chuck Grassley, Mike Crapo, Pat Roberts, Mike Enzi, John Cornyn, John Thune, Pat Toomey, Tim Scott, Bill Cassidy, James Lankford, Todd Young and Ben Sasse
  • Earlier, Trump Administration Weighing 90-Day Deferral of Tariffs
