Juvenile detainees in Los Angeles County failed to show that inadequate Covid-19 safety protocols at detention centers in the county violated their due process rights, a state appellate court said Wednesday.
In April 2020, attorneys from the Center for Juvenile Law and Policy at Loyola Law School, Los Angeles, and the Independent Juvenile Defender Program of the Los Angeles County Bar Association, among others, filed a petition for a writ of mandate, contending the Los Angeles Superior Court’s Covid-19 procedures failed to protect detained juveniles.
