Illinois Sued For Halting Disability Services During Pandemic

Illinois is accused in a new lawsuit of discriminating against its developmentally disabled citizens during the coronavirus pandemic by keeping its Community Day Services closed while allowing children’s day camps and manufacturing businesses to open at a limited capacity.

The state is currently in Phase 3 of its reopening plan, after being subject to Governor J.B. Pritzker’s executive orders shuttering parts of the economy during the initial outbreak of Covid-19, John McDonald said in his complaint, filed Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
