ICE Detainees in Texas Win Bail Hearings Due to Pandemic Fears

Nonviolent detainees held by Immigration and Customs Enforcement at the Montgomery Processing Center in Texas are entitled to individualized bail hearings if they have a medical condition that puts them at risk for Covid-19, a federal court in Houston said.

Several MPC detainees with underlying medical conditions brought a potential class action alleging their continued detention in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic violates their constitutional right to due process.
