A California bill to prioritize laid-off hospitality workers for rehiring as businesses recover from the Covid-19 pandemic now heads to Gov.
The California Senate voted 25-11 in favor of the measure (S.B. 93), which sets aside $6 million for the Labor Commissioner’s Office to implement and enforce the bill. The Assembly approved it 54-19 Monday. If signed into law, the changes would take effect immediately.
