Top National Labor Relations Board officials urged lawmakers to approve more funding for the agency to address staffing shortages and a massive case backlog.
NLRB General Counsel Crystal Carey and Chair James Murphy told members of the House subcommittee on Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions Thursday that proposed cuts in the latest labor appropriations bill would be “disastrous” to the agency’s mission.
The House Appropriations Committee earlier Thursday unveiled its budget plan for the NLRB, which includes a budget of $200 million for the NLRB, down from $285 million in the president’s budget request.
