Following the arrests of 10 officers and members of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental and Reinforcing Iron Workers Local 401, union General President Walter Wise announced that the union’s international leadership would place the local under a trusteeship beginning Feb. 21.
In a Feb. 21 statement, Wise said the international arm of the union will assume operational and financial oversight of the Philadelphia-based local while the 10 members face criminal charges of extortion, arson, assault and racketeering in federal court.
