A California drywall company reached a settlement with the Labor Department’s Wage and Hour Division over the company’s failure to pay overtime and other violations, the division said in a Jan. 10 news release.
A Labor Department investigation found that the employer, West Coast Drywall and Company Inc. of Riverside, Calif., employed drywall installers and painters who should have been paid time and one-half for hours worked over 40 in a week, but when they worked overtime, were only paid per unit produced, or piece rate, the division said.
