Xerox Retiree Wants 900-Person Class Over Health-Care Premiums

A former employee accusing Xerox Corp. of improperly charging premiums to retirees receiving company-provided health insurance asked a New York federal judge to certify the case as a class action covering about 900 people.

Paul Vollmer wants to represent a class covering former Xerox employees who retired under a 1986 enhanced early retirement program and who were eligible to receive health insurance from the company, together with their spouses. Vollmer says the case’s central issue—whether Xerox violated plan terms in imposing a cost-sharing requirement on these retirees’ benefits—is common to all class members.
