Walmart Trims Claims in Suit Alleging Broken Tablet Displays

Walmart Inc. convinced a federal judge to dismiss some claims in a proposed class action that alleged the company sold Surf Tablet Pro tablet computers with a defect that made the devices’ touchscreens malfunction and turn black.

Steven Farmer alleged the discount store operator knew its 7, 8, and 10.1-inch tablets had the alleged defect due to customer complaints and reviews as early as 2019. He purchased two 8-inch tablets in 2020 that both had the alleged display defect, the complaint said.
