VSP Vision, Call Center Workers Reach $3.45 Million Wage Deal

Vision Service Plan agreed to pay $3.45 million to end claims that it systematically underpaid and overworked more than 1,800 customer service representatives across the country, according to a motion for settlement approval filed in a federal court in in California.

The proposed deal allocates about $2.16 million to the employees, with each expected to receive about $1,200. Class counsel seeks $1.15 million in attorneys’ fees plus up to $25,000 in litigation expenses.

If approved, the deal would resolve a 2020 lawsuit brought by Michael Schmidt, who worked for VSP in Rancho Cordova, Calif., on behalf of similarly situated employees. ...
