Volvo Worker Sues Over Failure to Pay For Off-the-Clock Duties

A Volvo Car USA LLC employee sued the automaker alleging it failed to pay him and other hourly workers for off-the-clock work activities required before and after their shifts, including donning and doffing protective gear.

Antonio Gardenhire alleges Volvo failed to compensate workers for pre- and post-shift activities integral to their jobs in violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act and South Carolina Payment of Wages Act, according to a lawsuit entered Tuesday in the US District Court for the District of South Carolina.
