Volkswagen AG and two U.S. subsidiaries must continue to face allegations that the automaker’s 2016 “Pact for the Future” is really an effort to drive out workers 50 and older nationwide, a federal judge ruled.

The pact may be the sort of common policy that provides the “glue” the U.S. Supreme Court has held is necessary to permit large groups of workers spread throughout the U.S. to sue as a class, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee said June 26.
