Tyson, Cargill Approved for $88 Million Beef Price-Fixing Deals

Tyson Foods Inc. and Cargill Inc. won final approval for deals worth $87.5 million to settle claims with indirect consumers alleging the meatpackers conspired to fix and raise beef prices.

Tyson’s agreement to pay $55 million and Cargill’s deal to pay $32.5 million provide “substantial relief” to more than 30,000 potential class members, Judge John R. Tunheim of the US District Court for the District of Minnesota said in a Wednesday order granting final approval.
