Trader Joe’s Co. labels some of its “Almost Everything” bagels as “gluten-free” even though the products contain high levels of gluten, a proposed consumer class action said.
Testing from Moms Across America, a nonprofit dedicated to educating parents about toxins in food products, found the bagels have almost 270 parts per million of gluten, the complaint filed June 28 in the US District Court for the Central District of California alleged. The US Food and Drug Administration set the limit for labeling something gluten-free as having less than 20 ppm of gluten.
