Ticketmaster Covid-19 Refund Claims Will Go to Arbitration

Ticketmaster Entertainment Inc. won’t have to defend in court class action claims that it failed to issue refunds to consumers for shows canceled due to Covid-19 after the Northern District of California granted the ticket seller’s motion to compel arbitration.

Though Ticketmaster’s policy before the pandemic was to issue refunds if an event is “postponed, rescheduled or canceled,” it retroactively changed its policy to allow for refunds only for canceled events, not postponed or rescheduled ones, even if the postponements are indefinite, the complaint alleged.
