Thomson Reuters Must Face Privacy Lawsuit over CLEAR Platform

A privacy lawsuit challenging a Thomson Reuters Corp. database that sells dossiers of public and non-public information about individuals will proceed under California’s unfair competition law after a federal judge trimmed one claim from the proposed class action.

The lawsuit, filed by two California-based Black civil rights activists, challenges Thomson Reuters’s CLEAR platform, which sells dossier reports on individuals based on both public information and information not available to the general public.
