Target Pays $2.3 Million to Settle Debt Collection Call Lawsuit

A Target Corp. subsidiary will pay nearly $2.3 million to settle a class action lawsuit accusing it of making harassing debt collection calls to Massachusetts consumers.

The U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts granted final approval to Target Enterprise Inc.'s settlement March 23.

Gabrielle Carlson accused the company of violating the Massachusetts Consumer Protection Act and state debt collection regulations by calling debtors more often than the allowed two times in a seven-day period.

Following mediation, the parties agreed to settle the case for $2,275,000.
