Subaru Still Faces Some Claims in Impreza Engine Defect Suit

Impreza owners may proceed with negligent misrepresentation and consumer protection claims against Subaru Corp. and its U.S. affiliate over engines that are allegedly prone to fail, a federal court in New Jersey ruled.

The court addressed disputed legal questions about economic-loss claims under Pennsylvania’s consumer law and claims on behalf of a proposed class under Georgia’s. Each of those claims may proceed, Judge Joseph H. Rodriguez said Thursday for the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey.
