A class action settlement in a case alleging a storage company improperly sold off customers’ property won final approval July 13 (Gomes v. Extra Space Storage, Inc., 2017 BL 243072, D.N.J., 2:13-cv-00929, unpublished 7/13/17).
Steven Gomes Jr. sued in 2014 after the contents of his rental unit were auctioned off following nonpayment. The storage company failed to notify him and other customers before their property was sold, Gomez alleges.
Under the terms of the settlement, Extra Space Storage, Inc. and Extra Space Management, Inc. will pay $5,079,856 to 7,716 class members.
