StockX Data Breach Case Properly Sent to Arbitration, Court Says

StockX LLC convinced the Sixth Circuit Thursday to uphold a decision that sent to arbitration a proposed class action accusing the e-commerce provider of failing to protect the personal information of millions of its users in a cyber attack.

Eight plaintiffs, including two minors, sued StockX after a computer hacker allegedly breached the company’s system in 2019 and listed data from 6.8 million users on the “dark web.” The U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan granted StockX’s motion to compel arbitration, saying the plaintiffs’ argument that there was no enforceable arbitration agreement with the minor plaintiffs must ...
