SEOUL—Nearly 3,000 complainants participating in a data breach class action in South Korea were awarded financial damages by a court in that country Feb. 15 in litigation against a social media and internet search services company (Party Names Unavailable).
The Seoul Western District Court ordered SK Communications to pay KRW 200,000 ($185) each to a group of 2,882 plaintiffs, citing negligence in protecting their personal information, lawyers involved in the case told BNA Feb. 20. The court’s Feb. 15 opinion is not yet independently available.
