Send Marriott Data Breach Suits to Maryland, Two Motions Say (1)

The numerous consumer privacy actions filed since news broke that information of 500 million Marriott International Inc. guests was compromised should be consolidated in federal court in Maryland, two petitions argue.

At least 16 consumer class actions have been filed in federal court since the Nov. 30 announcement. More are likely in the works.

Most were filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland, where Marriott is headquartered. Others federal suits were filed in Massachusetts, California, and Illinois. Another filed in Oregon state court is likely to be removed.
