Samsung Plasma TV Settlement With No Money for Class Fails

Samsung Electronics Co. and consumers will have to try again to come up with a settlement over plasma television repair parts that will pass muster in the Northern District of California.

Consumers alleged their TVs developed colored lines through the displays. The TVs could be repaired but Samsung stopped providing replacement parts to authorized repair shops, they say.

The parties reached a settlement under which Samsung would make the parts available so class members can get their TVs fixed. Class members would get no money, while two class representatives would get $6,000 each and class counsel would take $487,000 in ...
