Rust-Oleum Corp. shed most of a proposed class suit alleging it deceptively overstated the capabilities of RainBrella, a windshield glass treatment that helps repel rain, mud, and dirt, according to a Wednesday Illinois federal court order.
Wisconsin resident Shaquavia Harris, who said she purchased RainBrella between March 2018 and December 2020, challenged representations that it “Lasts 2X Longer” than a leading competitor and “Lasts Over 100 Car Washes.”
Her unjust enrichment and warranty claims were dismissed, and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois struck allegations seeking a nationwide class.
