Ram Truck Emissions System Defects Class Action Gets Narrowed

A potential nationwide class action against FCA US LLC and Cummins Inc. was narrowed but not dismissed by a federal court in Michigan Thursday.

The lawsuit alleges defects in the emissions aftertreatment systems of model year 2013–2017 Dodge 2500 and 3500 Ram trucks manufactured by FCA with Cummins 6.7-liter diesel engines.

The plaintiffs allege the companies misleadingly advertised the trucks as fuel-efficient and compliant with emissions regulations despite knowing that two separate defects in the aftertreatment system would actually cause the trucks to be less efficient and to exceed applicable emissions standards.
