Pella Corp. will pay $24 million to resolve long-running consumer class claims that its windows are defective under a settlement that won final approval March 15.
The settlement “provides immediate, measurable relief without the delay and uncertainty of further proceedings,” Judge Sharon Johnson Coleman wrote for the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
Over 10,000 claims have been filed and over 4,700 class members have already received payouts.
The case, originally filed in 2006, alleged defects in Pella’s aluminum-clad windows resulted in water penetration, causing premature product failure and damage to class members’ homes.
