P.C. Richard Must Face Consumer Claims Over Credit Card Receipts

New Jersey’s Supreme Court revived a would-be class action against P.C. Richard & Son LLC over claims the electronics and mattress retailer violated state law by issuing receipts revealing the expiration date of consumers’ credit and debit cards.

The court found that the plaintiffs had pleaded the requirements for class status, remanding the matter for class action discovery and leaving it to the trial court to make the ultimate determination as to whether to grant class status.
