Nike Workers’ Bag Check Wage Case Revived by Ninth Circuit (2)

Nike Retail Services Inc. will have to face workers’ class claims that they should be paid for time spent in post-shift bag checks, after the Ninth Circuit revived their lawsuit June 28.

A 2018 California Supreme Court ruling requires that hourly workers be compensated for all time worked, no matter how administratively difficult it might be to track, Judge Jed S. Rakoff wrote for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

The proposed class action covers all hourly workers at Nike’s 34 retail stores in California.
