A proposed class action alleging the New Jersey-based New York Jets and Giants are deceiving fans by having “New York” in their names should be dismissed, a federal magistrate judge recommended.
“It is common for a professional sports team to name itself after the city it calls its home while playing in the suburbs of that city (or, in some cases, even further away),” Magistrate Judge Barbara Moses said. She noted the Washington Commanders are in Landover, Md., and the San Francisco 49ers are in Santa Clara, Calif.
