Nationstar $17M Class Settlement Over Changed Locks OK’d

Nationstar Mortgage LLC will pay $17 million to resolve class claims that it has a policy in Washington state of taking possession of homes in default by entering and changing locks prior to foreclosure.

The settlement is an “excellent result for the class,” Judge Thomas O. Rice wrote for the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Washington in a May 2 order granting final approval.

Class counsel estimates class members will receive awards between $75 and $52,000.
