Morton Salt Faces Class Action on Origin of ‘Himalayan’ Products

Morton Salt Inc. misleads consumers into thinking some of its products originate in the Himalayas when they actually come from hundreds of miles away, according to a potential class action filed in federal court in California.

The company sells products like Morton Coarse Himalayan Pink Salt and Morton Fine Pink Salt, which it markets as “harvested from ancient sea salt deposits deep within the Himalayas,” according to a complaint filed Thursday at the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.
