A potential class action accusing Morton Salt Inc. of misleading consumers into thinking some of its products originate in the Himalayas will be dropped, according to filings in a federal court in California.
Victoria Brown and Heather Blum said that Morton Coarse Himalayan Pink Salt and Morton Fine Pink Salt were marketed as “harvested from ancient sea salt deposits deep within the Himalayas.”
Consumers willingly paid a premium “because Himalayan pink salt is supposedly mined in the pristine Himalayan Mountains, which are rich in iron,” the plaintiffs alleged.
But Morton’s products were actually sourced from salt mines in northern Pakistan ...
