MGM Defeats Suit Alleging it Kept Change When Players Cashed Out

MGM Resorts International shook off a proposed class suit alleging it took millions of dollars of loose change from casino players who cash out their tickets while they still have credits on a slot machine.

The US District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi dismissed the suit, saying it lacks jurisdiction.

Leane Scherer alleged that when patrons cash out, the machine generates a voucher reflecting the amount owed by the casino to the player. Vouchers are redeemed at kiosks that round down to the nearest dollar but don’t pay change, dispense the amount in cash, and generate a 30-day ...
