Meta Sued for Collecting Sensitive Data Through Third-Party Site

Done Global Inc. filed a third-party complaint against Meta Platforms Inc. seeking to hold it liable for privacy violations originally alleged in an underlying consumer complaint against Done.

The plaintiff in the underlying suit, M.H., alleged that Done aided and abetted Meta in violating common law and the California Invasion of Privacy Act by allowing Meta’s tracking tool to intercept users’ private medical information on Done’s website without consent.

Done denies wrongdoing but argues that if any violation occurred, Meta committed the primary offense by willfully intercepting and using the data for its own financial gain through targeted advertising. Done ...
