McDonald’s Hit With Class Complaint Over PFAS in Food Packaging

McDonald’s Corp. concealed from consumers the presence of the dangerous “forever chemicals” known as PFAS in its products, according to a new class complaint filed in federal court in Illinois.

Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances are synthetic chemicals that break down very slowly and can accumulate in humans. Adverse health effects from the chemicals may include reproductive problems, developmental delays in children, increased risk of some cancers, and a reduced ability of the body’s immune system to fight infections, according to the Environmental Protection Agency.
