Marriott Data Breach Draws Same-Day Class Action

Marriott International Inc. was hit with a consumer class action Nov. 30, just hours after it announced its Starwood guest reservation database had been hacked.

The attack involved information on 500 million guests dating back to 2014 and included some passport numbers and credit card information.

Marriott discovered the security breach Nov. 19.

This is likely the first of dozens of class actions that will be filed over the breach.

Harry Bell and Edward Claffy allege the company negligently handled customers’ data, breached their confidence, and waited too long to inform them of the breach.
