LPL Financial Unit CUSO Sued Over Data Breach Affecting 75,000

CUSO Financial Services LP, a broker-dealer that focuses on services for banks and credit unions and unit of LPL Financial Holdings Inc., was hit with a class suit stemming from a data breach that occurred between Dec. 19, 2023, and Jan. 19, 2024.

Kristen Javis alleges that due to CUSO’s failure to implement reasonable data security practices, an unauthorized third party accessed the unspecified personal identifying information of approximately 75,000 individuals from a CUSO employee’s email account. The mechanism of the attack was a known risk to CUSO, the complaint says.
