Lime Scooter Workers Allege Misclassification in California

Drivers hired to charge and transport electric scooters for Neutron Holdings Inc. are employees under California’s “ABC Test” but are wrongly classified as independent contractors, a suit filed Thursday in San Francisco alleges.

Neutron, doing business as Lime Scooters, hired the drivers in California to pick up scooters and bikes with low batter charges and recharge them, the suit says.

According to the complaint, workers are required to follow detailed requirements governing their interaction with customers, are told which scooters to charge, where to take them, and how to perform their tasks. They were also subjected to background checks and ...
