Lenovo Warranty Claims In, Consumer Law Claims Out of Class Suit

Lenovo United States Inc. must face warranty claims in a would-be class suit alleging it knowingly marketed and sold defective two-in-one Yoga laptops, a Minnesota federal court said.

Martin Gisairo sufficiently alleged Lenovo’s attempt to disclaim implied warranties was unconscionable and unenforceable, Judge Wilhelmina M. Wright of the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota said Tuesday.

But he failed to raise viable claims under several Minnesota consumer protection statutes, the court said, dismissing those claims without prejudice.
